Basic WordPress Blogs

By

WordPress blogs are by nature fairly easy to set up. They function nicely but are amazingly simple. When you first set up a WordPress blog, it will look very plain and there won't be much to it. Each time you publish a post it will appear on the homepage of the site, and will push down other blog entries that you have created previously.

Each time I create a new WordPress blog it will look exactly the same as most of the other blogs that I've created. After the initial setup, I'll go about making some changes to the theme, layout, and functionality of the site. This doesn't have to happen from day one - you improve blogs as you go along. In the beginning you won't have any visitors anyway so you won't have to worry a ton about having a perfect site.

For this reason, I often end up with blogs that are pretty basic. They still have the default theme that WordPress uses and that's perfectly ok. Again, you're going to improve the sites as you go.

The Look Of A Basic WordPress Blog

WordPress blogs look very basic 'out of the box', and that's ok. Many people are terrified of other people seeing their sites but honestly it isn't the look of your site that's going to determine how successful it is. Some of the ugliest sites out there make insane money. Here are some example of some basic WordPress sites that I've found that are just getting started: myscoopstation.com, expertisetroop.com, knowledgemass.com, beyondknowhow.com, smartsituation.com, supremeawareness.com, thecommunitybrainblog.com, thesmartcrew.com, wizdomfound.com, and yourmindcenter.com.

I'd like you to take a look at these sites now, and then watch them over time to see how they develop. Right now they all look the same and over the next few months they will be getting new looks and layouts, followed by new content. This will really help you to see how blogs can be developed over time.

Great blogs aren't established in one day, in fact they generally take a few years to perform really well. It takes patience and commitment to create and maintain a great blog and people that are able to do it will often make insane money.

I would of course recommend using WordPress like was done on these sites because it's the most powerful blogging software that's out there. It's extremely functional and very search engine friendly - two critical aspects of good blogging.
